PRIME MENTORS OF THE ORGANISATION
Smt. Tattamoyee Debi (Bhattacharya)
Smt. Tattamoyee Debi born in 2nd decade of last century, is an active brain over 100 years and is a living history of common women and value based living in common Bengali society. She is also a living encyclopaedia with information from last ten decades from year 1919 (as estimated from family information) till date with unexplainable goodness in thinking, rationalising, advising and healing capacity for all come in touch of her in her daily actions.
Smt. Tattamoyee Debi was born to Late Hatteswar Nanda who was at a time a priest, a Guru or teacher of ancient living institutions of”Tol” and a farmer of his own house farms. Her mother Late Rajeswari Debi was a silent worker with heavenly beauty, incomparable cooking skill and very religious mind. They belonged to renown “Nanda” clan of historical *Bahiri village of undivided Midnapore district.
The little girl Tattamoyee had grown up with seeing students studying under her father staying at teacher’s residence, seeing father maintaining all his responsibilities of famous Shri Jagannath Temple of Bahiri* and growing up own vegetable for his students and family in surrounding area of the residence.
She absorbed in deep details of Puja in vedic way and traditions of rural Bengal, religion in its practice and preaching, got passive learning while father was teaching his students and she learnt all about plants or herbs and its application in daily food just like daily habits for healthy living. In latter part of her life she acted as a most successful expert on these subjects for her family what are still continuing.
Tattamoyee Debi inherited fine qualities of her parents so she has very unique capacity of understanding, analysing and rationalising different aspect and guided herself accordingly. She was a creator of better possibilities in lives of others than it would have been in general. She had nurtured a large number of kids not only her own children but also children of relatives and from same village families who stayed in her family for studying in Kolkata in similar status of her own children. There were many who called her “Ma” from students of her late husband **Shri Panchanan Shastri, or from relatives and neighbourers or persons from same village families from her earlier days in Kolkata residence when she started her family life with husband in Bagbazar, Kolkata in approximately late 30s of past century till today.
Tattamoyee Debi has taught her grandchildren with anecdotes from past what are unheard history of common man when big happenings are recorded for country of society. She at her age of 4-5 years attended series of meetings for the day of Mahatma Gandhi with her father though she couldn’t remember or realise what was speech but as child she watched and still feel the excitement of donating everything for country”Desh”... the pulse for the day how people were literally following Gandhi Maharaj, the extent the body permit they followed Gandhi to listen his speech even carrying little children on their shoulders!
Tattamoyee Debi described the anxiety they had in waiting for any news from “Subhash” (Late Subhash Chandra Bose) from radio of a rich neighbourer through nephews. Like many of that time her tears were spontaneous that “Our child didn’t return” on each of 23rd January remembering Subhas’s birth time and blowing conch shell at as was practised in older parts of Kolkata for many years with siren blown by Kolkata Municipality. One of the promoters of “Aparajeeta” are fortunate enough to be nurtured by her immense love, advice and teachings of Tattamoyee Debi being in family and the other is blessed to be in her family or clan by marital way. She is who had given first donation for the organisation for the organisation. With all her guidance every day in every aspect of Aparajeeta Association of Women for Human from its inception to material existence, who could be best advisor for this organisation which aspires to work for human living by touching lives of hundreds with both brain and heart ? She is the real foundation behind the organisation and most of project outline came from her teachings and practices in her own life of 10 decades and on which could be a matter of exploration and research.
*(The earlier temples of Shri Jagannath in Bahiri village are under excavation and restructuring work of Archaeological Department, Govt.
