This project is a continuous process to work on resource optimization within daily social practices (Sustainable Development Goal 12- Responsible Consumption & Production) and also to some extent to expose inequalities in basic living situations within the country through these micro-steps (in line with Sustainable Development Goal 10-Reduce Inequality)

For both layers of society, the economically marginal section and the stronger section, this bazaar provides a platform not only for the exchange of materials but mind and emotion pointing out a common human society and accepting each other’s existence with stretching hands of support through several means.

Kindly don't consider it as a Charity by giving old or new clothings to poors !! That has been a basic human nature since olden times. Every religion has their rituals to advocate sharing of excess in that direction. Many individuals and institutions had effortlessly served the people in need in every celebration and crisis, so there is no novelty in it. But APARAJEETA finely weaves this action towards a bigger goal for planet Earth, integrating manifold aspects in it professionally and continuing at regular intervals in extreme remotes. It’s a kind of Flea Market without a monetary transaction. Clothings, bags and shoes, books and toys, bed materials and kitchen items are placed in stalls in a hygienic and re-usable condition.

Geographical locations:

For this project of a free flea market with items for Re-Use, Aparajeeta Association of Women for Human strategically collaborates with long established and locally admired organisation in each location to fulfil the objects of sustainability.

Till date APARAJEETA had organised in average 6-12 no. of bazaars in average every year the last 3 years starting the first one on 13 th August 2022.

Present locations are:

Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum, Purbo Bardhaman and Kolkata

Components of project :

  • 1. An event of sharing , meeting and greeting each other
  • 2. Category wise quality second hand materials (clothing, books and toys, shoes & bags, are arranged and displayed for target audience to pick up according to their need and choice.
  • 3. The collection process is also equally important, which amalgamates sensitisation of people on not keeping/buying huge loads of daily usage materials at home as idle but to donate for those for who acutely need it. ! then collection according to the convenience of donors, disinfection (though APARAJEETA picks up only clean cloths! whenever found unclean had been readily discarded) sorting, packing for transport according to category.
  • 4. Purchase of new materials sometimes supported by kind hearted donors – saree and new dresses for Puja and Diwali, Mosquito Net for Summer and Blankets for Winter are given to elderly persons and families with infants as per suggestions of local organisations.
  • 5. Propagating the message of RE-USE, REDUCE-RECYCLE during the entire programme with community, partner organisations and society as a whole.
